Buffalo, Rochester & Pittsburgh

BR&P 280, Standard Steel Car, B&O class I-10

Buffalo, Rochester & Pittsburgh Railway (BR&P) No. 280 was constructed by Standard Steel Car Co. in Butler, Pa., in 1923. In 1932 it became Baltimore & Ohio Railroad's (B&O) with their acquisition of the BR&P becoming class I-10 and was renumbered as B&O C2631 in 1935. In January 1974 it was retired by Chessie System & donated to the at the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum. More details on this car is here.

Pittsburgh & Lake Erie (PLE)

Pittsburgh & Lake Erie bay window caboose 508

PLE 508 is one of 10 bay window cabooses built to NYC plans in 1950 by the railroad's own shops in McKees Rock, PA. PLE 508 is believed to have spent most of its career in and around the Aliquippa Yard in Beaver County, PA. Railroad Museum volunteer Earl Kinard purchased PLE 508 upon its retirement in 1991, accompanying the caboose to Lancaster County and subsequently donating the car to the Railroad Museum.
