At 3:08 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2024, two sets of Caltrain electric multiple unit or EMUs meeting at College Park in San Jose, CA. The southbound set is JPBX 310-309 and the northbound set is JPBX 301-302.

Eclipse Day! We spent the day in Garland, TX, where we saw the total solar eclipse. On the way to dinner we saw a train. We were lucky to have seen the eclipse. By evening there were severe thunderstorm warnings.

Arizona Trip 2024

The trip I took to Arizona in June 2024. I met Ken Compton (Ken The Elder) along the way and stayed with Liz Kylin in Williams, AZ.

First day, drove to the desert and met Ken at Lavic, CA. We overnighted in our trucks next to the tracks in Siberia, CA.

Second day, we started at Siberia, CA and drove to Pica, AZ. There we spent the night and were introduced to the monsoon.

Third day, Ken Compton and I started at Pica, AZ. We drove to Williams and spent the first of several nights with our friend Liz.

Fourth day, Ken, Liz and I started in Chandler, AZ, on the BNSF. We drove to Maine, near Parks, AZ and spent several hours there.

On the fifth day, Ken Compton and I went down the Peavine. We shot a Peavine Train near Drake and we caught and Arizona Central train there. Then, we returned to the Crookton Cutoff via some gnarly dirt roads.

On the sixth day, Ken Compton and I went to Darling, AZ. Then we went to Angell where we met Liz.

On the seventh day, Ken Compton and I started our trip home. We followed the BNSF to Kingman. Ken got a tire repaired there. Then we finished the day in Kingman Canyon.

BigBoy Adventure

Photos taken on our BigBoy Adventure in July 2024. Youngest son Ken (Ken the Younger) and I were on a brief getaway to chase the Big Boy's westward adventure into northern California. We left home the evening of Wednesday, July 11, 2024, stayed near Oroville that night. We followed the next day and stayed in Roseville that night. We headed home on Friday. It was super hot, triple digits, like 114!

On this Friday we drove from 29 Palms, CA, where we had been staying during our time in Joshua Tree National Park to Furnace Creek where we stayed in Death Valley National Park.

On this Sunday I drove from Death Valley, to Las Vegas, dropped Susie off at the airport, then I drove home. It was 10 hours of driving.
