According to Wikipedia, The Portland and Western Railroad (reporting mark PNWR) is a 520-mile (837 km) Class II railroad serving the U.S. state of Oregon, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of shortline and regional railroad holding company Genesee & Wyoming Inc. The PNWR includes a subsidiary, the Willamette and Pacific Railroad (reporting mark WPRR).
PNWR's tracks lie entirely within Oregon, extending from Astoria to Portland along the Columbia River, from Portland to Eugene through the Willamette Valley, and along several spurs through the Northern Oregon Coast Range. [Read More]
PNWR 1852 EMD/SP SD9E
Reportedly (sources) PNWR 1852 was built in May 1955 as SP 5438 Class-DF122, in the 1965 renumbering it became SP 3916 Class EF618-3. It was rebuilt by SP as SD9E 4397, Class EF618E-1, in Jan. 1975; retired by SP in Nov. 1993; sold to W & P as 1852 in March 1994; to PNWR 1852 in 1996.

Reportedly (sources) built by EMD in December 1963 as Southern Pacific 7413, renumbered in 1965 as SP 6525, SP Class EF425-1. rebuilt by M-K in Feb. 1979 as GP35R SP 6322, SP Class EF425K-1. This unit received Kodachrome paint. Retired by SP July 1994 sold to OmniTRAX March 1995, March 1998 becoming GP38-2 specification Utah 2005. Becoming PNWR GP38-3 2005.

- Portland and Western Railroad (PNWR) 2302 leads a late night train on Friday, March 15, 2024 on the streets of Albany, OR. On March 23, 2024, Hawken Benjamin said, "Ah the Eugene to Albany train on the old Oregon Electric." This is the first train photo taken from our Hyundai Tucson "Luna" which we bought the day before.

Portland and Western Railroad 2307 "Independence" is an EMD GP39-2 built as ATSF 3606 serial number 74602-7 in 1974. It became ATSF 3106 then PNWR 2307.
