- SP 4038 in Sacramento
- Southern Pacific (SP) MC-6 (2-8-8-2 Mallet Consolidation) 4038 at what looks like Sacramento, CA. This photo may have been taken in Sacramento as the locomotive was being converted to simple, in July 1937, class AC-3. The cab was cut away in the process. It was built by Baldwin in October 1912 and retired and scrapped in 1948. Any more information appreciated. Photographer unknown.
According to Joe Strapac, "Looks like Sacramento to me, Steve. One of the last three to be converted to simple, in 1937. Evidence of wreck damage, suggesting that SP would have had to budget more $ than just the usual for one of this class. Nice picture! Keep them coming..." Photographer most likely Bill Darrough, from the Jack Darrough Collection. Used with permission.- Photo of SP 4038

NOTE: If anything is my "life's work" it's my train photos. — If you scan an analog photo of mine, or if you share a digital photo I took that does not have my photo credit, add something like "Photo by Steve Sloan" directly onto the image. It's not enough to say "Photo by Steve Sloan" in the text caption. People download photos off the Internet/Social Media platform and whatever is in the text does not stick to the photo. Then, they get reshared and that data is lost. I deserve credit for my work.
You may not use my photos for profit and/or as part of, or to sell, a product or service without my consent. Please do not work on (edit, crop or "correct") my images without first geting permission from me.
