On this day I chased Legendary steam locomotive No. 844 on the sixth leg of the UP 150 Express, a multi-segment tour celebrating Union Pacific's 150th anniversary over Donner Pass.
The night before I drove to Reno after getting off work. I got to Ken Compton's house at about 11:30 pm. The next morning we got up at about 6 and drove to the Denny's in Reno where we were served by a flirty witress named Dee. Ken's friend Gary Evans met us there.
We took two cars because I was driving home that evening. I followed Ken and Gary. When we went into the back country at Andover and shed 10 we switched to Ken's new Nissan Xterra.
We followed the train all the way to Newcastle. It was a great day!
