Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad (DRGW)
Likely the first Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad (DRGW) locomotive I ever saw was at the Kaiser, in Fontana, CA, on Saturday, March 31, 1973. DRGW 5328 is an SD45 off the UP-DRGW pool coal train that was running at that time. |

DRGW 1121, (Silver Pine), Budd 48 seat coach
Silver Pine (former DRGW 1121) is a Budd 48 seat coach. Reportedly: it was built in 1948 as a California Zephyr 16 Section Sleeper. In 1963-64 the cars of this class were rebuilt into coaches. The Silver Pine remained in service on the Rio Grande Zephyr until it too was discontinued in 1984. The Silver Pine was sold to a private owner and kept in storage until ASTA purchased the car in 2010. It was returned to service in 2011 as a first class coach car.

NOTE: If anything is my "life's work" it's my train photos. — If you scan an analog photo of mine, or if you share a digital photo I took that does not have my photo credit, add something like "Photo by Steve Sloan" directly onto the image. It's not enough to say "Photo by Steve Sloan" in the text caption. People download photos off the Internet/Social Media platform and whatever is in the text does not stick to the photo. Then, they get reshared and that data is lost. I deserve credit for my work.
