Olean, NY: On the morning of October 4, 2011 I remember texting, "Don't pinch me I do not want to wake up!" I have before been in situations where I was surrounded by hard working Alcos in the 21st century, but it was always a dream before. This was real.

In the morning Dan and I went to the offices at Olean, NY and found out we really made the right decision the day before when we chased the Hornell Turn instead of the Driftwood Turn (DFT) out of Olean. The DFT did not get out of Olean until almost dark and was so late it had gone dead on the law at Emporium PA. The crew from the morning switch job (OL-2) at Olean was being sent to Emporium to pick up the train.

Later, after the power from the previous days DFT settled into the engine house on October 5, 2011 and Olean, NY started to get quiet I bid farewell to Dan and left the WNYP. I drove to Rochester and that evening I met Otto in Rochester. After hanging out with him and some friends I called it a night.

Very early in the morning I met Otto again and we set off on a new adventure chasing the Livonia, Avon & Lakeville Railroad (LA&L, or LAL). We were in Lakeville at first light and we caught the morning train going to work. This is work in progress.

Very, very early in the morning I met Otto again again and again we set off on a new adventure this time heading west, almost to Buffalo to Lockport to chase the Falls Road Railroad.

I did not rush this morning. I knew I had a very long day ahead. I met the excursion equipment in Medina, NY later in the morning.
