SP 1792 Alco S4, Class AS410-4
SP 1792 is an ALCo S4. Reportedly: this locomotive was built as SP 1464 in Nov. 1951, SP Class DS-111, serial number 79339. In 1965 it was renumbered and reclassified as SP 1792 ALCo S4, Class AS410-4. It was retired July 1975.

SP 1798 Alco S4, Class AS410-4
SP 1798 is an ALCo S4. Reportedly this locomotive was built as SP 1470 in Nov 1951, SP Class DS-111, serial number 79345. In 1965 it was renumbered and reclassified as SP 1798 Alco S4, Class AS410-4. It's reported as retired Sept 1974. Scrapped May 1976.

SP 1806 Alco S4, Class AS410-4
According to good sources, including Strapac's fantastic SP Compendium series, SP 1806 was built in 1951 by ALCo as a model S4, builders number 79510, SP 1478, SP Class DS-111. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 1806 SP Class AS410-4.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired April 1975, scrapped at Levin, Sacramento, CA

- This photo is from the Ken Rattenne collection. It's likely that I gave him the slide years ago and mislabled it as being in Oakland. I believe this is Roseville, on Tuesday, August 6, 1974, over by the tower near the 211 Shanty. If so, my bad! Ken scanned the slide and posted it with my permission. Thanks Ken!

SP 1820 ALCo S4, Class AS410-5
SP 1820 is an ALCo S4. Reportedly: this locomotive was built as SP 1520 in March 1953, SP Class DS-115, serial number 80098. In 1965 it was renumbered and reclassified as SP 1820 ALCo S4, Class AS410-5. It was retired Feb. 1976.

SP 1825 is an ALCo S4. Reportedly this locomotive was built as SP 1525 in April 1953, SP Class DS-115, serial number 80103. In 1965 it was renumbered and reclassified as SP 1825 ALCo S4, Class AS410-5. It was retired Oct. 1975.

SP 1828 is an ALCo S4. Reportedly this locomotive was built as SP 1528 in April 1953, SP Class DS-115, serial number 79817. In 1965 it was renumbered and reclassified as SP 1828 Alco S4, Class AS410-5. It was retired Aug. 10, 1973.

SP 1841 Alco S4, Class AS410-6
SP 1841 is an ALCo S4. Reportedly: SP 1841 was built as SP 1563 in April 1955, builders number 81315, SP Class DS-119. In 1965 it was reassigned to SP 1841 Alco S4, Class AS410-6. According to Strapac, the 17 units in class AS410-6, 1829 through 1845 were the only ones equipped with signal lights and screened carbody filters instead of louvers. Retired Jan. 1974.

SP 1842 is an ALCo S4. Reportedly 1842 was built in April 1955 as SP 1564, builders number 81316, SP Class DS-119. Renumbered in 1965 to 1842, SP Class AS410-6. Retired Nov. 3, 1975. Scrapped.

- On a warm day in Oakland's Desert Yard on an unknown date in 1972, a switchman spreads his arms in a big easy sign as Southern Pacific Alco S4 1842 shoves on a cut of cars.

SP 1845 Alco S4, Class AS410-6
Reportedly 1845 was built April 1955 as SP 1567. Renumbered in 1965 to 1845. Retired Jan. 26, 1974. Sold to Chrome Crankshaft 1845. Resold to Graysonia, Nashville and Ashdown RR 1845, then to Ideal Cement 1845, then to Great Western Rwy. 1845. Final disposition unknown.

SP 1865 is a Baldwin DS-4-4-1000. Reportedly: SP 1865 was built by Baldwin in 1948 as an DS-4-4-1000/6, SP 1397 Class DS-118 serial number 73937. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 1865 Baldwin DS-4-4-1000, SP Class BS410-4. The disposition of this locomotive is reported as: Retired May 18, 1972. Sold to EMD Sep. 8, 1972.

- Southern Pacific Baldwin 1865 is sitting with 1863 on the whisker's at Eugene, Oregon on an unknown day in the summer, likely August, of 1972.
