Reportedly: WNYP 406 was built in 1952 by ALCo as a model RS3, DH 4112, builders number 80312. It was rebuilt in 1976 by Morrison-Knudsen for DH as a 2000hp RS3 (RS3m/RS3u). This engine became a bicentennial unit for D&H. Reporting marks and numbers reportedly assigned to this locomotive include: TIOC 506, DH 506, DH 1976, DH 4112, WNYP 406.
