SP 9500 EMD SD45X, SP Class EF642-1

According to good sources, including Strapac's fantastic SP Compendium series, SP 9500 was built in Aug. 1970 by EMD as a model SD45X, builders number 35741, SP 9500 EMD SD45X, SP Class EF642-1.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired June 1984, scrapped.
SP 9500 in Roseville, CA

SP 9504 EMD SD45X, SP Class EF642-2

According to good sources, including Strapac's fantastic SP Compendium series, SP 9504 was built in Feb. 1971 to SP specifications by EMD as a model SD45X, builders number 36807, EMD 4202. It was sold to Southern Pacific in December 1972 becoming SP 9504 EMD SD45X, SP Class EF642-2.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired June 1984, scrapped.

SP 9505 EMD SD45X, SP Class EF642-2

According to good sources, including Strapac's fantastic SP Compendium series, SP 9505 was built in 1971 by EMD as a model SD45X, builders number 36808, EMD 4203. It was sold to Southern Pacific in December 1972 becoming SP 9505 EMD SD45X, SP Class EF642-2.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired 1984, scrapped, 1992

In January 2020 Ken Rattenne posted this photo I took in the 70s from his collection: SP SD45X No. 9505 leads a freight in Oakland CA in on an unknown day in May of 1974. The unit's EMD demo number has been replaced by SP's and soon will be repainted in SP colors.

SP 9800 Alco C643 (DH643), SP Class AF640-1

According to good sources, including Strapac's fantastic SP Compendium series, SP 9800 was built in Sept. 1964 by ALCo as a model C643 (DH643), builders number 3374-01, SP 9018, SP Class DF-802. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 9150 Alco DH643, SP Class AF640-1. In 1969 it was renumbered to SP 9800 Alco DH643, SP Class AF640-1.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired Apil 1973, scrapped.
SP 9800 in Roseville
The Alco hydraulics spent the vast majority of their time hanging around the Roseville shops. Here is DH643 9800 in its usual place on Friday, March 23, 1973. It still has its Nathan M3. Film Tri-X

SP 9810, EMD SD70M, SP Class EF640L-1

SP 9810 is an EMD SD70M. Reportedly: it was built in 1994 by EMD, builders number 936438-11. After the merger it became UP 3984.

On Saturday, August 19, 2023, SP 9810 is leading a train on the California Central Model Railroad Club (CCMRC) in the historic Agnew depot in Santa Clara, CA.

SP 9902 EMD DD35B, SP Class EF850B-1

According to good sources, including Strapac's fantastic SP Compendium series, SP 9902 was built in April 1964 by EMD as a model DD35, builders number 28905, SP 8402, SP Class DF-700. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 9502 EMD DD35, SP Class EF850B-1. In 1969 it was renumbered again to SP 9902 EMD DD35, SP Class EF850B-1.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired Jan 1976. Scrapped Dec. 1978.
