Photos taken at the June 27, 2014 on the first day of a Donner Trip. I drove 247 miles.
I left home at 9:46 a.m. and drove via Livermore and Stockton.
Donner Trip
Trip with Ken Compton
I stopped in Livermore and got groceries and went to Starbucks. In Roseville I stopped again to get some supplies I needed and had forgotten to pack. Then I took some photos in Roseville.
I headed up the hill but was unable to catch a train that Ken Compton had text messaged me about. I saw it go through Colfax.
I finally pulled into Yuba Gap which by this time had great afternoon light. I met Ken there. We photographed some trains then went to the campsite where Ken had already set up.
I pitched my tent as Ken cooked dinner. We had a little campfire which we ate in front of and had a few beers.
I found the camping area had mice, which made me happy that I was fastidious about keeping my tent zipped.
Ken is my best friend. It was great seeing him again.
