SP PA 6027
Southern Pacific (SP) PA-2 6027 leads 5918 and two other ALCo passenger engines lead train 28, the Overland, eastbound into Richmond, CA Station in the mid 1950s. Relatives from the midwest were traveling on this train.

SP 6027 ALCo-GE PA-2, SP Class DP-9

SP 6027 is an ALCo-GE PA-2, SP Class DP-9. Reportedly: SP 6027 was built in 1952 by ALCo as a model PA-2, builders number 79039, SP 6027 ALCo-GE PA-2, SP Class DP-9. In 1965 it was reclassed SP Class AP620A-3.
This locomotive was upgraded on between 1956 and 1961.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired 1966 and sold to ALCo.

SP 6027 on Overland

SP 6051 EMD E9A, SP Class EP624A-1

Former SP 6051 EMD is an E9A, SP Class EP624A-1. Reportedly: SP 6051 was built in 1954 by EMD as a model E9A, builders number 20100, SP 6051, SP Class DP-12. It entered service on 1955 at Los Angeles. In 1965 it was reassigned SP Class EP624A-1.
The disposition of this locomotive is: retired in 1969. Donated to the Pacific Coast Chapter of the Railway and Locomotive Historical Society. Deeded in 1978 to the California State Railway Museum. Returned to service in 1983.
SP 6051 in Sacramento
On Friday, December 16, 2011, former Southern Pacific (SP) 6051 was with WP 913 on the Polar Express holiday train. 6051 was on the north end of the train.

SP 6356, EMD/CN GP35R, SP Class EF425N-1

SP 6356 is an EMD/CN GP35 (GP35R), SP Class EF425N-1. Reportedly: SP 6356 was built by EMD in 1965, as a model GP35, builder number 29729, SP 7727, SP Class DF-625. It was renumbered and reclassed in 1965 becoming GP35 6624, SP Class EF425-3. It was rebuilt in 1979 by Canadian National emerging as SP 6356 EMD/CN GP35 (GP35R), SP Class EF425N-1. It was retired in 1995 eventually becoming Arizona and California 3503.

SP 6447 EMD FP7, SP Class EP415A-5

SP 6447 is an EMD FP7, SP class EP415A-5.Reportedly:SP 6447 was built in 1953 by EMD as a model FP7A, builders number 18131, SP 6447, SP Class DF-12. In 1965 it was reclassified to SP Class EP415A-5.
The disposition of this locomotive is, sold in 1972 to Amtrak in 1973 it became Amtrak 111, became 375 in 1976, became 492 in 1977 sold by Amtrak for scrap in 1980.

SP 6453 EMD FP7, SP Class EP415A-5

SP 6453 is an EMD FP7, SP Class EP415A-5. Reportedly: SP 6453 was built in 1953 by EMD as a model FP7A, builders number 18137, SP 6453, SP Class DF-12. In 1965 it was reclassified to SP Class EP415A-5.
The disposition of this locomotive is, sold in 1972 to Amtrak in May 1973 it became Amtrak 116, became 376 in 1976, became 493 in 1977 sold by Amtrak for scrap in May 1980.
SP 6453 in Oakland
Southern Pacific (SP) 6453 in the 1970's removed the Mars light from one of their FP7 passenger locomotives and replaced it with a gyralight. The result was quickly nicknamed "tit" by some local railfans. So, I offer SP 6453, and hopes folks see it as humorous.

SP 6533 EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-1

SP 6533 is an EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-1. Reportedly: it was built in 1964 by EMD, builders number 28475, as SP 7421, SP Class DF-623.
Disposition: It was retired in 1986. Reporting marks and numbers said by some to be associated with this locomotive include Republic Locomotive Works RL 2000, Jalumco Alumina Co. 1012, Jamaica.

Model of 6533 on the CCMRC
On Saturday, August 19, 2023, Ken Compton's HO model of SP 6533 is leading a U25B up the branch on the California Central Model Railroad Club (CCMRC) in the historic Agnew depot in Santa Clara, CA. My 9810 is drifting downhill toward Weed from Shasta.

SP 6554 EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-1

SP 6554 is an EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-1. Reportedly: SP 6554 was built in 1964 by EMD as a model GP35, builders number 28869, SP 7442, SP Class DF-623. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 6554 EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-1.
This locomotive was not upgraded.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired 1990. Sold to Morrison-Knudsen. Became BN G39M 2873.

Southern Pacific (SP) GP35 6554 leads GP20 4084, GP9E 3840 and SD9E 4437 west of Antelope near Roseville, CA on an unknown date in 1978.

SP 6560 EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-1

SP 6560 is an EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-1. Reportedly: SP 6560 was built in 1964 by EMD as a model GP35, builders number 28875, SP 7448, SP Class DF-623. In 1965 it was renumbered and reclassified to SP 6560 EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-1.
This locomotive was upgraded in 1979 by MK emerging as SP 6312 SP Class EF425K-1.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired in 1998 and sold in 1999.

SP 6586 is an EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-2. Reportedly: SP 6586 was built in 1964 by EMD as a model GP35, builders number 29560, SP 7474, SP Class DF-623. In 1965 it was renumbered and reclassified to SP 6586 EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-2.
This locomotive was upgraded in 1979 by CN emerging as SP 6352 SP Class Class EF425N-1.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired in 1994 and sold in 1995 to Omni-Trax became (Genesee & Wyoming Inc. owned) Dallas Garland & Northeastern (DGNO) 6352.

Southern Pacific (SP) GP35 6586 and a sister power a train through Planehaven along Roseville Road, in Sacramento between Sacramento and Roseville, CA on an unknown date in Feb. 1978.

SP 6613 is an EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-3. Reportedly: SP 6613 was built in 1965 by EMD as a model GP35, builders number 29718, 7756-17, SP 7716, SP Class DF-625. In 1965 it was renumbered and reclassified to SP 6613 SP Class EF425-3.
This locomotive was upgraded in 1979 emerging as GP35R, SP 6331 SP Class EF425N-1.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired 1996, sold to Progress Rail.

SP 6666 EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-4

SP 6666 is an EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-4. Reportedly: SP 6666 was built in 1965 by EMD as a model GP35, builders number 30178, SP 7769, SP Class DF-626. In 1965 it was renumbered and reclassified to SP 6666 EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-4.
This locomotive was not upgraded.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired 1988, and in 1989 sold to Levin Metals. Resold to National Railway Equipment Corp. 1997 rebuilt as an SD39-2M with Dofasco trucks for Ferrocarril del Pacifico of Chile FEPASA 2352, meter gauge.

SP 6677 is an EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-4. Reportedly: SP 6677 was built in 1965 by EMD as a model GP35, builders number 30189, SP 7780, SP Class DF-626. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 6677 EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-4.
This locomotive was upgraded in 1979 by M-K emerging as SP 6302 SP Class EF425K-1.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired 1995. Went to Quebec Southern 502, CDAC 502 to Watco (WAMX) GP38-2 3839.

SP 6727 GE U25B, SP Class GF425-2

SP 6727 is a GE U25B, SP Class GF425-2. Reportedly: SP 6727 was built in 1963 by General Electric as a model U25B, builders number 34697, SP 7527, SP Class DF-622. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 6727 SP Class GF425-2.
The disposition of this locomotive reportedly is: retired 1984, scrapped 1985.

SP 6754 is a GE U25B, SP Class GF425-3. Reportedly: SP 6754 was built in 1964 by GE as a model U25B, builders number 34791, SP 7564, SP Class DF-624. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 6754 GE U25B, SP Class GF425-3. The 6754 was one of very few U25Bs to sport "stacked" lettering for the road name.
This locomotive was reportedly rebuilt in 1982 emerging as SP 1611, TEBU, SP Class GF400R-1.
Reportedly the disposition of this locomotive is: became UPY 936.

SP 6809, EMD SD45T-2 (SD45T-2R), SP Class EF636R-7

SP 6809 is an EMD SD45T-2 (SD45T-2R), SP Class EF636R-7. Reportedly: SP 6809 was built by EMD in 1972 builder number 7336-02, as SP SD45T-2 9167, SP Class EF636-7. In 1987 it was upgraded and became SP 6809, SD45T-2R SP Class EF636R-7. In 1999 it was retired.

SP 6854, EMD SD45T-2 (SD45T-2R), SP Class EF636LR-8

SP 6854 is an EMD SD45T-2 (SD45T-2R), SP Class EF636LR-8. Reportedly:SP 6854 was built by EMD in 1972 builder number 7348-02, as SSW SD45T-2 9158, SP Class EF636C-6. In 1988 it was upgraded and became SP 6854, SD45T-2R SP Class EF636LR-8. It became UP 4794 then UP 2826.
SP eastbound approaching Cable
Southern Pacific (SP) 6854 leads an eastbound towards Cable, CA, in the Tehachapi Mountains, on Sunday, February 23, 1992. The headend power on this train is SP 6854 and 7462.

SP 6906 EMD SD35, SP Class EF625-1

According to good sources, including Strapac's fantastic SP Compendium series, SP 6906 was built in Dec. 1964 by EMD as a model SD35, builders number 29836, SP 4822, SP Class DF-503. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 6906 EMD SD35, SP Class EF625-1.
This locomotive was upgraded in March 1977 emerging as SP 4701 SP Class EF620R-1. in 1979 became SP 2962, class ES620R-1.
The disposition of this locomotive is, SP 2962 retired Feb. 1999, sold Oct. 1999 and scrapped in 2002.
SP 6906 in Roseville
Just out of Sacramento Shops with a fresh coat of paint, SP SD35 6906 waits with SD45T-2 9210 in the power pool in Roseville on Sunday, September 29, 1974 for a call to duty that will likely take it south, to the Bakersfield - Tehachapi Frieght pool (BAK/TF) that was its normal home.

SP 6950 EMD SD35R, SP Class EF625E-1

According to good sources (including Strapac's fantastic SP Compendium series) SP 6950 was built in 1965 by EMD as a model SD35, SP 4838, SP Class DF503, builder's number 29852. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 6922 SP Class EF625-1.
This locomotive was upgraded in 1974 emerging as SP 6950 SP Class EF625E-1, in 1980 it was reclassified as heavy switcher 3102 SP Class ES625E-1. In 1993 it was again renumbered to 2957.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired in 1999 and sold in 2002.
