UP 2543 EMD GP40, rebuilt by MPI, Designation GP38-2

According to good sources UP 2543 was built in Aug 1967 by EMD as NYC 3074 a model GP40, builders number 33238. Rebuilt from GP40 to GP38-2 by MPI, Boise Locomotive Co., Boise, Idaho. Leased from Helm Financial, from UP series 2527-2586. Nov. 2010 vacated from UP roster, becoming HLCX 1043.

UP 2586 EMD GP40, rebuilt by MPI, Designation GP38-2

According to good sources UP 2586 was built in Oct. 1968 by EMD as PC 3189 a model GP40, builders number 34346. Rebuilt from GP40 to GP38-2 by MPI, Boise Locomotive Co., Boise, Idaho. Leased from Helm Financial, from UP series 2527-2586. Apr. 2010 vacated from UP roster, becoming HLCX 1086.

December 28, 2009 the last UP Santa Cruz Local goes north along Buena Vista Drive, through a eucalyptus grove approaching the San Andreas Crossing at MP 6.87.

After picking up cars and going around the wye the train now heads south back towards home, December 28, 2009.

At MP 6.87 is the San Andreas Crossing where the UP line actually crosses Buena Vista Road. It was raining pretty good at this point

Finally back in Watsonville. The local does its last street running on Walker Street at 3:05 p.m. The journey for UP's last Santa Cruz Local and the story of big time railroads running to Santa Cruz is likely drawing to a close, December 28, 2009.

UP 2614, UP Designation ET44AH

According to good sources UP 2614 was built in 2015 by GE as a model ET44AH, builders number 63522, UP model designation ET45AH, from UP series 2570-2669.

At East Norden, approaching the big hole, an eastbound IOADU stack train has UP 2614, 4676, 4726 and 7393 for power on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 5:20pm.

UP 2615 GE ES44AC, UP designation ET44AH

UP 2615 is a GE ET44AH. Reportedly: UP 2615 was built in 2015 by GE as a model ET44AH, builders number 63522, UP model designation ET45AH, from UP series 2570-2669.

On the Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 12:45 p.m. a 4+2+0 eastbound Union Pacific Railroad Company (UP) monster intermodal has UP 8107, 8426, 8229, 8989 + 3070, 2615 at East Truckee, CA.

UP 2630, UP Designation ET44AH

According to good sources UP 2630 was built in 2015 by GE as a model ET44AH, builders number 63638, UP model designation ET45AH, from UP series 2570-2669.
UP 2630 on Coal Train
On Saturday August 3, 2019, at 2pm a Union Pacific eastbound coal train has ET44AH 2630, 8456 and 2599 as power. The train is in the Painted Rack Road area west of Fernley, Nevada.

UP 2640, GE ET44AH

UP 2640 is a GE ET44AH GEVO built in 2015. UP model designation ET45AH, from UP series 2570-2669.

UP 2675, GE ET44AH

According to good sources UP 2675 was built in 2016 by GE as a model ET44AH GEVO, builders number 64308, UP model designation ET45AH, from UP series 2670-2739.
UP No-grainer at the big hole
On Friday, August 2, 2019 near Donner Ski Ranch, at the Big Hole, an eastbound UP empty grain train has 2675, 6296 (ex SP 250) and 7783 as a DPU.

UP 2747, GE ES44AC-T4C

UP 2747 is a GE ES44AC-T4C. Reportedly: it was built in 2016, serial number 64380.
Southbound in Albany
A Union Pacific 3+0 train with UP 2747, 1988 (MKT) and 6235 passes Portland and Western (PNWR) 3546 which is working as the switcher in the nearby yard in Albany, OR, on Friday, March 15, 2024.

UP 2769, GE ES44AH-T4C, UP Designation C45AH

According to good sources UP 2769 was built in 2016 by GE as a model ES44AH-T4C, builders number 64402, UP model designation C45AH, from UP series 2740-2769.
Empty Coal Train at Boca
At 7:10pm on Friday, August 2, 2019, an eastbount 3+0 empty coal train at Boca, east of Truckee, has 2769, 6614 and former SP unit 6159 for power. The 6159 is ex SP 117.

UP 2775, UP Designation SD40-2

According to good sources, including Strapac's fantastic SP Compendium series, UP 2775, former SP 8699, was built in March 1967 by EMD as a model SD45, builders number 32638, CNW 915. In December 1994, after being rebuilt, the locomotive was released by Morrison-Knudsen to SP as SP 8699, an SD40M-2 SP Class EF630LK-2. Later becoming UP 2775, UP Designation SD40-2, 2650-2782 series.
The disposition of this locomotive is, UP 2775 retired in October 2010.

UP 2801 GE U28C

UP 2801 is a GE U28C. Reportedly UP 2801 was built in June 1966 by GE as a model U28C, builders number 36015, retired August 1981.

Union Pacific (UP) U28C 2801 in Nampa Idaho on Sunday, September 9, 1973. According to George Foster, "that 'Be Specific, Ship Union Pacific' boxcar in the background is a B-50-18 or B-50-19."

UP 2887 GE U30C

UP 2887 is a GE U30C. Reportedly UP 2887 was built by the GE as U30C UP 2887 in 1974, serial number 39608. It was traded back to GE in 1987.

On an unrecorded date in 1974 UP 2887 is laying over in the WP West Oakland Yard.
