UP 6501 is a GE AC44CW. Reportedly: UP 6501 was built by GE in 2000 builder number 52511.

In the Powder River Basin at Logan Hill, WY, on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, a Union Pacific Railroad Company (UP) westbound 2+3 empty coal train meets an eastbound UP 2+2 loaded coal train. The power on the westbound empty train is UP 7489, 7776 + two unrecorded and 8949. The eastbound loaded train has 6501, 8228 + 6812, 7953.

UP 6583 is AC44CW. Reportedly: UP 6583 was built by GE in 1997 as an AC44CW serial number 49821.

At Frost, CA, on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at 11:30 a.m., a westbound 2+1 Union Pacific (UP) Manifest has UP 7813, 6583 + 6696. I photographed this on film and digital with my Nikon FM2n, Nikon 85mm F2 (MF) lens and Nikon D500, Nikon 18~140mm f3.5-5.6 DX lens.

On Friday June 21, 2013 at 2:10 p.m. a westbound Union Pacific manifest with 6638, 4927 and 5926 is at the Cresta Powerhouse in the Feather River Canyon, CA.

UP 6680 is a GE AC4400CW (AC44CW.) Reportedly: UP 6680 was built in 1997 by General Electric as a model AC44CW, builders number 49918..

UP 6836 is a GE AC4400CW (AC44CW), UP model designation C44AC. Reportedly: UP 6836 was built in 1996 by GE as a model AC4400CW, builders number 49283, UP model designation C44AC, from UP series 6738-6887.
Eastbound No-grainer at Midas
On Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 5:25 p.m. an eastbound Union Pacific (UP) no grainer, 2+1, has 7680, 6836 + 8721 for power. This eastbound is just moments away from meeting Amtrak (AMTK) train number 5, the Amtrak California Zephyr.

UP 6899 GE C44/60AC

Sand Pass Grain Train
This was shot with my D600 with a 28mm f2.0 prime. A westbound Union Pacific grain train with C44/60AC 6899, 4517 and DPU 5792 goes around the horseshoe curve east of Sand Pass Siding at 4:05 p.m. on June 23, 2013. Ken Compton and I were on the top of a hill in Sand Pass, Nevada shooting the grain train on a windy and chilly June 23, 2013.

UP 6909, EMD DDA40X

According to good sources UP 6909 was built in 1969 by EMD as a model DDA40X: serial number 34535, from UP series 6900-6946. Disposition: retired 1984, traded to EMD in August 1986 and scrapped.

UP 6919 GE C44/60ACW

East of Sand Pass, NV
East of Sand Pass, NV west of Sano, around milepost 399.3 on June 23, 2013 at 8:35 a.m. an eastbound Union Pacific manifest with UP 6919, 9670, 5812. Symbol of this train is unknown.
Mike Haire said, "My guess your manifest (UP 6919) is either the Odgen (formerly known as the Roper) or most likely the N. Platte. If there were quite a few ARMN refer cars, that would be 1 of the 2 daily N. Plattes we see over Donner in the evening."
I don't remember many or any reefers; so, I suspect it's the Ogden. Would that be MRVOG?

UP 6927, GE C44/60AC

UP 6927 is a GE C44/60AC. Reportedly: UP 6927 was built by GE in 1998 as UP 7540 a GE Model AC6000CW (C60AC, AC60CW) builder number 50974. It was derated. It was renumbered in 2008.

UP 6936, EMD DDA40X

UP 6936 is an EMD DDA40X. Reportedly: UP 6936 was built in 1971 by EMD as a model DDA40X, builders number 35510, UP 6936.

  • On Tuesday, April 8, 2008, Union Pacific ran a special train on the former SP coast line. We started following it from Elkhorn Slough, south of Watsonville CA and followed it to San Jose, CA
  • On June 5, 2012 UP 6936 led the 2012 Feather River Rail Society "Dunsmuir Rail Days" museum train ran down the Feather River Canyon from Portola, CA to Roseville, CA.

    • UP 6940, GE C44ACM

    UP 6940 is a GE C44ACM. Reportedly: UP 6940 was built in 1998 as AC6000CW (C60AC) UP 7552. It was renumbered and updated becoming GE AC4460CW UP 6940. It was subsequently modernized becoming a C44ACM keeping the same number.
    UP Local at Mojave, CA
    On Friday, June 9, 2023, at 10:05 a.m., UP 6940 (new scheme), 5093 are facing northbound switching in Mojave, CA.

    UP 6941, EMD DDA40X

    According to good sources UP 6941 was built in 1971 by EMD as a model DDA40X: serial number 35515, order number 7198, frame number 7198-17, from UP series 6900-6946. Disposition: retired 1985, traded to EMD in August 1986 and scrapped.

    UP 6954, GE C44/60AC

    UP 6954 is a GE C44/60AC. Reportedly: UP 6954 was built by GE in 2001 as UP 7565 a GE Model AC6000CW serial number 52469. It was downgraded in 2010 becoming a GE C44/60AC UP 6954.
