- In the Powder River Basin at Logan Hill, WY, on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, a Union Pacific Railroad Company (UP) westbound 2+3 empty coal train meets an eastbound UP 2+2 loaded coal train. The power on the westbound empty train is UP 7489, 7776 + two unrecorded and 8949. The eastbound loaded train has 6501, 8228 + 6812, 7953.

- Sand Pass Grain Train
- This was shot with my D600 with a 28mm f2.0 prime. A westbound Union Pacific grain train with C44/60AC 6899, 4517 and DPU 5792 goes around the horseshoe curve east of Sand Pass Siding at 4:05 p.m. on June 23, 2013. Ken Compton and I were on the top of a hill in Sand Pass, Nevada shooting the grain train on a windy and chilly June 23, 2013.

According to good sources UP 6909 was built in 1969 by EMD as a model DDA40X: serial number 34535, from UP series 6900-6946. Disposition: retired 1984, traded to EMD in August 1986 and scrapped.

- East of Sand Pass, NV west of Sano, around milepost 399.3 on June 23, 2013 at 8:35 a.m. an eastbound Union Pacific manifest with UP 6919, 9670, 5812. Symbol of this train is unknown.
Mike Haire said, "My guess your manifest (UP 6919) is either the Odgen (formerly known as the Roper) or most likely the N. Platte. If there were quite a few ARMN refer cars, that would be 1 of the 2 daily N. Plattes we see over Donner in the evening."

UP 6940 is a GE C44ACM. Reportedly: UP 6940 was built in 1998 as AC6000CW (C60AC) UP 7552. It was renumbered and updated becoming GE AC4460CW UP 6940. It was subsequently modernized becoming a C44ACM keeping the same number.
