SP 4101, Baldwin 4-8-8-2, SP Class AC-4

Reportedly: SP 4101 was built in 1928 by Baldwin as SP 4101, SP Class AC-4, builders number 60576.
The disposition of this locomotive is, Vacated and scrapped in 1953.
SP 4101 in Los Angeles
Southern Pacific (SP) AC-4 4101 in LA on Saturday, June 3, 1939. Photographer most likely Bill Darrough, from the Darrough Collection. Since negatives were extensively traded it's possible Bill was not the photographer. Photos from this collection have been shared with permission from Jack Darrough, obtained before he died.

SP 4103 EMD GP20R, SP Class EF420E-2

Reportedly: SP 4103 was built in 1962 by EMD as a model GP20, builders number 5634-18, SP 7217, SP Class DF-617. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 4067 SP Class EF420-1.
This locomotive was upgraded in 1975 emerging as SP 4103 SP Class EF420E-2.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired 1992
SP GP20R 4103 in Roseville
On Sunday, April 11, 1976 SP GP20R 4103 is waiting outside the Roseville, CA shops.

SP 4107 EMD GP20R, SP Class EF420E-2

Reportedly: SP 4107 was built in 1962 by EMD as a model GP20, builders number 5634-10, SP 7209, SP Class DF-617. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 4059 SP Class EF420-1.
This locomotive was upgraded in 1976 emerging as SP 4107 SP Class EF420E-2.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired 1993, scrapped.
SP GP20R 4107 in Fresno
SP GP20R 4107 is in Fresno in early 1978.

SP 4113 EMD GP20 (GP20R), SP Class EF420R-2

Reportedly: SP 4113 was built in 1962 by EMD as a model GP20, builders number 27349, SP 7228, SP Class DF-617. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 4078 SP Class EF420-1.
This locomotive was upgraded in 1977 emerging as SP 4113 EMD GP20 (GP20R), SP Class EF420R-2.
The disposition of this locomotive is: retired and sold in 1990.
SP GP20R 4113 in Roseville
Newly rebuilt Southern Pacific (SP) GP20 (GP20R) 4113 is on the Roseville hump working with SP GP9R 3352 on an unrecorded date in August 1977.

SSW 4135 EMD GP20R, SP Class EF420S-1

Reportedly: SSW 4135 was built in 1962 by EMD as a model GP20, builders number 26949, SSW 816, SSW Class Z-20. In 1965 it was renumbered to SSW 4046, SP Class EF420C-2.
This locomotive was upgraded in 1974 emerging as SSW 4135 EMD GP20 (GP20R), SP Class EF420S-1.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired in 1994. Sold in 1995 to Omni-Trax. Became Hudson Bay Ry. 2506 then Okanagan Valley 2506 then Central Kansas Rwy. 2506. Other reporting marks and numbers reported to be associated with this locomotive include: CKRY 2505, JLCX 2002.
SSW GP20R 4135 in Roseville
On Sunday, September 8, 1974, Cotton Belt (SSW) GP20R 4135 is recent out of the Sacramento Shops and is sitting in Roseville, CA with 3689 waiting for an assignment. In this photo 4135 still has it's turbocharged 16-567 engine.

SP 4191, Baldwin 4-8-8-2, SP Class AC-8

Reportedly: SP 4191 was built in 1939 by Baldwin as a model AC-8, builders number 62279. The disposition of this locomotive is, vacated in 1957 and scrapped in 1959.

Reportedly: SP 4197 was built in 1939 by Baldwin as a model AC-8, builders number 62285.
The disposition of this locomotive is, vacated in 1954 and scrapped in 1955.
SP 4197, AC-8, location unknown
Southern Pacific (SP) AC-8 4197 in helper service. Notice the WW2 era light deflectors. No notes on this one. Location not currently known, perhaps Santa Margarita? This is WW2 era, sometime in 1942. Photographer most likely Bill Darrough, from the Jack Darrough Collection. Since Bill Darrough died of cancer in 1942 this may be among his last train photos. Used with permission.

SP 4203, Baldwin 4-6-6-2, SP Class AM-2

Reportedly: SP 4203 was built in 1911 by Baldwin as a Mallet Mogul (MM), SP 4203, builder's number 36688, SP Class MM-2. This locomotive was upgraded in 1936 and converted to simple emerging as an Articulated Mogul (AM) SP 4203, SP Class AM-2. In 1938 the locomotive was renumbered to SP 3903.
The disposition of this locomotive is, vacated and scrapped in 1946.

The notes with the collection say this is Southern Pacific (SP) 4203 in Portland, OR on Friday, August 6, 1937. Photographer most likely Bill Darrough, from the Darrough Collection. SP 4294, Baldwin 4-8-8-2, SP Class AC-12

SP 4294 is a 4-8-8-2, SP Class AC-12. Reportedly: SP 4-8-8-2 4294 was built in 1944 by Baldwin builder's number 70101. This locomotive was retired in 1956. It is owned by the city of Sacramento and is on static display in the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, CA.
